Expert: Prices of MacBook more than double, of iPhone rise by third

MOSCOW, Mar 17 (PRIME) -- The prices of popular models of Apple laptops in Russian online stores have risen 46–142% over three weeks, and the prices of the bestselling models of the iPhone have increased 24–34% and the tablets by 13–34%, according to a research by price comparing service Price.ru, seen by PRIME on Thursday.

“The prices of Apple laptops showed the highest increase because in Russia, there are many professions – from product designers to analysts working on operating system iOS. And we see some models have become more expensive by 2–2.4 times, for example, the average price of MacBook Pro MK1E3 reached a record high 480,100 rubles and of MacBook Z11B0004T 302,700 rubles,” a Price.ru representative said.

Price.ru compared the online average prices as of February 23 and Tuesday.

The MacBook Air MGN63 price rose 46% to 126,100 rubles.

Among smartphones, the iPhone 13 with 128GB gained most in price, which advanced 34% to 96,000 rubles, and the iPhone 13 Pro with 128GB, whose tag increased 31% to 125,900 rubles.

The prices of the iPhone 11 with 128GB and the iPhone 11 with 64GB went up 24% to 61,000 rubles and 55,900 rubles, respectively.

In the segment of tablets, the highest price rise of 34% was shown the iPad Pro 12.9 with 128GB to 131,000 rubles. The price of the iPad Pro 11 with 128GB demonstrated the smallest rise to 85,800 rubles.

“Apple devices are available in retail, gadgets partially online, what is left at warehouses and at stores. The one-item-per-customer limit still applies,” a representative of electronics retailer M.Video told PRIME.

Apple earlier paused sales of its products in Russia.
